The PestRay Indoor Plug (2-pack) is a plug-in ultrasonic repeller for indoor spaces like garages, kitchens, basements, and attics. It emits high-frequency sound meant to make an area less comfortable for rodents, insects, and crawlers, encouraging them to move on. Think of it as a deterrent layer, not a standalone fix. Results vary, and it works best combined with sealing entry points and removing food sources.

After a week

The house goes quiet, and stays that way.

How it works

Three steps. Then forget it.

1

Plug it in

Push a unit into any standard wall outlet in the room you want to protect. It powers on immediately, so there are no batteries to change and nothing to recharge.

2

It fills the room with sound you can’t hear

The unit emits shifting ultrasonic tones above the range of human hearing. To rodents and many crawling insects, the space stops feeling calm and hidden, which is exactly what they look for in a nest.

3

The pests decide to leave

Because the spot no longer feels safe, activity tends to fade over the following days as pests move toward quieter ground. Most customers notice a difference within the first week.

Why it works

Deters mice, rats, insects, and crawling pests from the rooms you live in.

Always-on, mains powered

Runs continuously from the wall outlet. No batteries to swap, no charging cycle, no dead unit you discover weeks later. It simply stays on.

No poison, no traps, no mess

Nothing to bait, nothing to snap, nothing to clean up. It works by making the room unwelcoming rather than by harming the animal.

Above human hearing

The tones sit above the range people typically hear, so the room stays quiet to you while it stays unsettling to pests.

Two rooms in one pack

Two units let you cover two problem areas at once, like the kitchen and the garage, or stack both in one large open space for stronger coverage.

Nothing to install

No drilling, no tools, no wiring. Plug it in and it starts working. Move it to another room whenever your problem does.

Quiet indicator light

A small, soft LED confirms the unit is running at a glance, without lighting up the room or disturbing sleep.

Our garage finally feels like ours

We kept hearing scratching in the garage wall at night. Put one unit in there and another in the basement. By the end of the first week the noise was gone and it has stayed quiet since. So easy to just plug in and forget.

Quiet and actually works

I was skeptical about anything ultrasonic but the kitchen activity we were seeing near the pantry has really dropped off. I can’t hear a thing and our dog does not seem to notice it at all.

Good, just give it time

It is not instant. The first few days I did not think much was happening, then by week two the signs really tailed off. One unit per room is the right call, do not expect one to cover the whole floor.

These are individual customers’ own experiences, not typical or guaranteed results. Deterrents discourage animals rather than eliminating them, and best results come from correct placement and consistent use. “Verified purchase” means the order was confirmed in our system.

FAQ

Good questions.

Will I be able to hear it?

The tones sit above the range most people can hear, so the room should stay quiet to you. Some children and pets are more sensitive to high frequencies, which is worth keeping in mind if you have very young kids or small caged animals nearby.

Is it safe around cats and dogs?

Most cats and dogs are unaffected and settle in normally around the unit. Small caged pets like hamsters, mice, and rabbits are in the same hearing range as the pests it targets, so keep units out of the rooms where those animals live.

Does it need batteries or charging?

No. This is a plug-in, mains-powered unit. It runs continuously from a standard wall outlet, so there is nothing to charge and no batteries to replace.

How long until it works?

Ultrasonic deterrents work gradually. Existing pests need time to decide the space no longer feels safe, so most customers notice activity easing over the first week. Keeping the unit on continuously gives the best results.

Can it pass through walls and furniture?

Ultrasonic sound is easily blocked by walls, doors, and large furniture, so treat each unit as covering one open room. For rooms that connect through a doorway, or for very cluttered spaces, place a unit in each area rather than relying on one to reach around corners.

Where should I plug it in?

Choose an outlet where the sound can travel across open floor toward where you see activity, rather than behind a couch or cabinet. Lower outlets near the baseboards where rodents travel tend to work well.

Do ultrasonic pest repellers really work? (honest answer)

Honestly, they are a deterrent, not a cure. Independent testing shows mixed results, and ultrasonic sound alone rarely clears an established infestation. Where it helps is as one layer in a larger approach: pests often find the sound annoying and are less inclined to settle in an area, especially early on. Pair it with sealing gaps, removing food and water, and cleaning up clutter. If you already have a heavy, entrenched problem, treat the source first and use the repeller to help discourage pests from returning. Set realistic expectations and give it time in the right spot.

Does it work through walls, and does it repel mice, roaches, and spiders?

This is the key limitation to understand: ultrasonic sound does not travel through walls, doors, or furniture. It is highly directional and gets absorbed or blocked by solid objects, so each unit really only covers the open area of the room it is plugged into. That is why one device cannot protect a whole house. As for pests, results vary by species. Some people notice reduced rodent and insect activity, but there is no strong evidence it reliably drives out spiders or fully clears mice or roaches on its own. Use it per room, in open space, as part of a broader plan.

Is it safe for pets like dogs and cats?

For cats and dogs, it is generally considered safe. The frequencies sit above comfortable human hearing, and while some dogs and cats can technically detect them, most simply habituate and treat it as background noise. The important exception is pet rodents. Hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, mice, rats, gerbils, and ferrets hear the same frequencies the device targets and can become stressed, so do not use it in rooms with those animals. Birds and fish are typically unaffected. If your pet seems agitated or you have any health concerns, unplug it and check with your veterinarian.

How many do I need, and where should I plug them in?

Plan for roughly one unit per room you want to cover, since sound will not pass through walls. Plug it into an open outlet a foot or two off the floor, not hidden behind furniture, curtains, or large appliances that would block the signal. Aim it toward the open area and known problem spots like along baseboards or near entry points. Garages, kitchens, basements, and attics are common placements. Leave it running continuously and give it a couple of weeks. For whole-property coverage, add units room by room or step up to a layered outdoor-plus-indoor setup.
